About Us:The New Lynn Coalition is an alliance of community, faith, and labor organizations dedicated to transforming Lynn into a city of equity and opportunity for all. Our mission is to unite diverse sectors of the working class into a powerful force that bridges racial, linguistic, ethnic, citizenship, faith, and gender boundaries. We address systemic issues such as income inequality and white supremacy through strategic organizing and education.

Role Overview:We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Program Organizer. This individual will manage and grow the Lynn Community Enrichment Program (LCEP), coordinate classes, lead the organizing work of the New Lynn Coalition, and support various forums, campaigns, and community actions. A significant aspect of this role is working closely with and providing day-to-day support to the Executive Director, ensuring smooth operations and successful execution of the coalition’s objectives.

Responsibilities:
  1. Program Management:
    • Oversee and update the LCEP website.
    • Coordinate logistics for classroom operations and facility use.
    • Manage instructor recruitment, onboarding, and orientation.
    • Provide support and feedback to instructors.
    • Handle financial management, including budgeting, expense tracking, and reporting.
    • Drive marketing and promotional efforts through social media and other channels.
    • Assist the Executive Director in implementing and overseeing program initiatives.
  2. Community Outreach and Base-Building:
    • Collaborate with local organizations, faith groups, and labor unions to enhance community engagement.
    • Develop and implement strategies to reach and involve diverse community segments.
    • Organize outreach events, workshops, and advocacy campaigns.
    • Build and sustain relationships with community stakeholders, businesses, and policymakers.
    • Advocate for local issues through organizing efforts and policy engagement.
  3. Organizing and Advocacy:
    • Participate in coalition meetings, community actions, and advocacy campaigns.
    • Lead organizing efforts for forums, campaigns, and community actions.
    • Develop strategies to mobilize community members around social justice issues.
    • Coordinate with other community organizations on joint projects and campaigns.
    • Engage with New Lynn Coalition member organizations to ensure communication and collaboration.
    • Provide updates and reports to the Executive Director on organizing activities.
  4. Executive Support and Administrative Duties:
    • Assist the Executive Director with day-to-day operations, including scheduling, correspondence, and planning.
    • Help organize and attend meetings, including preparing agendas and recording minutes.
    • Assist in preparing and distributing the coalition’s newsletter.
    • Provide logistical support for campaigns, special events, and community actions.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Executive Director and organizational goals.
Skills Required:Candidates should have strong coordination, marketing, social media, fundraising, event management, organizing, community outreach, and report and proposal writing skills. Excellent communication and organizational abilities, along with a commitment to social justice and DEI principles, are essential. Proficiency in English and another language spoken in Lynn (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole) is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of experience in organizing, coordinating, or related roles.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends, as LCEP night school runs during evening sessions.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred, especially those proficient in Spanish.
Terms of Employment:
  • Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Health Stipend: Reasonable, market-competitive stipend, additional to base salary.

  • 21 business days of vacation per year
  • 12 sick/personal days
  • 8 weeks parental leave (6 weeks paid, 2 weeks from sick/vacation time)
