Inclusionary Zoning

Lynn homeowners and renters are experiencing a rapid increase in housing costs in recent years, pushing more and more people out of Lynn and into other communities. 44% of Lynn homeowners and 52% of Lynn renters are spending 30% or more of their income on housing. This makes it hard for residents to afford other necessities like food, transportation, education, and healthcare.

An Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance will ensure that new development includes housing at a variety of sizes and rates to account for Lynn’s families and economy, instead of continuing to develop exclusively market-rate and above housing for outsiders. More affordable housing will help balance rising costs for both homeowners and renters.
